Zona Schwandt Justiss – June 15, 2008
Born 1916 in Wisconsin, Zona was a schoolteacher who attended summer graduate studies at U. of Colorado where she met another student, Howard Justiss, who was from Texas. They were married in 1942. Zona's six children, 13 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren survive her:

James Yooko Justiss, Alan Alice Justiss grandchildren Scott, Paul, Katy, Keith Justiss, Leeta Peter von Buelow grandchildren Carl, Jaspar, Cpl. Roland USMC, Josef, Stefan, Johannes, Francesco, and Kevin Justiss.
Zona ran the Justiss household in Texas and Tennessee while Howard worked toward the foundation of AGAPE Nashville. In a 1991 memoir, Thistles Cut, Ironing Done, Zona compiled her Wisconsin heritage. Her son, Joel, has published it online at:

Visitation will be from 4 – 8 pm Thursday evening & 9 – 9:45 am Friday morning at Otter Creek Church of Christ, 409 Franklin Road, Brentwood. Funeral services will be 10 am Friday morning June 20, also at Otter Creek Church of Christ. Interment will be at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens, 9090 Highway 100.
Rather than flowers, donations may be made to the Zona and Howard Justiss Fund at AGAPE, 4555 Trousdale Drive, Nashville, TN 37204, to assist children with special needs.
