William Jefferson "Jeff" Steele, Jr. passed away peacefully on February 18, 2018. Jeff was born September 22, 1928 in Madison where he spent most of his life. He was the son of the late William J. and Nannie (Rippy) Steele. Jeff was the last surviving child of his parents and had left school at an early age to go to work and help out with his large and loving family. He worked in the construction business for concrete companies. First with the former T. L. Herbert and Sons and later with Metro Ready Mix from which he retired. One of Jeff's greatest joys was spending time at the lake fishing and boating. He loved his times spent at Kentucky lake. In addition to his parents and siblings, Jeff was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Evelyn (Carter) Steele, and also by a son-in-law, Kenneth Taylor. He is survived by his children, Linda Waller (Thomas), Jeff Steele III (Kathy), Faye Fox (Fred) and Brenda Taylor; grandchildren, Snapper Waller, Jeremy Steele, Tonya Messer, Jamie Carson, Jason Steele, Kaleb Taylor and Donnie Franks; and 17 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home, Goodlettsville on Wednesday from 5 - 8 PM and Thursday from 10 - 11 AM. A Life Celebration Service will be conducted on Thursday at 11 AM.
