Mr. William Joseph "Bill" Gash---role model as a father and husband, grandfather, brother, retired LtCol of the U.S. Marine Corps; highly decorated Vietnam veteran, jet and helicopter pilot, teacher---died on January 26, 2016 in Nashville, Tennessee. He was 82.
Bill was born in Parkin, Arkansas on July 26, 1933 to Eugene and Gretchen Crook Gash. He found his calling serving our country in the U.S. Marine Corps where he was hand-picked out of the entire USMC to be aide to the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research and Development for Naval and Marine Corp aircraft. He will be remembered for his love of country and his commitment to teaching in all aspects of life. He loved to share and give so others could benefit. The five things that Bill never lacked were dedication, determination, character, honor and integrity. Bill could often be seen riding motorcycles, working outdoors with Lynn, hunting, playing tennis, playing with their German Shepherd Duke, reading or watching college football.
Bill is survived by his devoted wife, Lynn Gash; daughter and son-in-law, Valerie Gash and Brian Hall, son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Tacy Gash; grandchildren, Kristina Hall, Christian Gash-Hall, Katelyn Gash-Hall, Shelby Gash; sisters, Francye Lillard and Stephanie Gay-Mitchell
On Sunday, January 31st, family and friends will gather from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. to pay their respect and honor the memory of William Joseph Gash at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home in White House, TN.
Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 1st at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 1729 Stop Thirty Road, Hendersonville, TN, Fr Eric Fowlkes Celebrant.
Committal Service at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 1, 2016 at the Nashville National Cemetery on Gallatin Road with Military Honors.
