William Albright

William Edmond Albright, 88, passed away on August 26, 2008. He was preceded in death by his wife, Iris S. Albright; parents Ewing Garner and Edna Robertson Albright; sisters Lucille Glasgow and Frances Waller. He is survived by two daughters, Catherine Tim Turner and Billie Tom Jayroe; four grandchildren, Brian Krissy Turner, Julie Jason Pillow, Blake Jayroe and Courtney Jayroe; five great-grandchildren, Chloe and Turner Pillow, Molly, Lily and Will Turner. He has a surviving sister, Charlene Jack Lockhart, and brother, Robert G. Grace Albright.
He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee. During World War II, he served as navigator-bombardier with the 379th Bomb Group, 8th Air Force, where he received the Distinguished Flying Cross, and also served during the Korean War as a navigational trainer. His professional career was spent as an administrator with the Department of Agriculture, Soil Conservation Service from which he retired in Washington, DC in 1975.
He has been a member of Belle Meade United Methodist since 1958. He was actively involved in the 379th Bomb Group Association, for which he served as President 2000-2001.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm, Friday, August 29, 2008 at West Harpeth Funeral Home, 6962 Charlotte Pike, Nashville, TN 37209 and at Belle Meade United Methodist Church on Saturday, August 30 from 1-2 pm. Dr. Mike Ripski will be presiding at the service which will be held Saturday, August 30, 2008 at Belle Meade United Methodist Church at 2:00 pm. Burial will be held following the service at Cheatham County Memorial Gardens.
