Virginia Myers Brannock, 88, died January 13, 2021, Peachtree Corners, GA. Born, October 23, 1932, in Goodlettsville, TN, she was the daughter of the late Zack and Toccoa Myers (of Goodlettsville, TN). Virginia was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ned Brannock, and two nephews, Michael and Martin Myers. Virginia had a passion for reading and language which led to her lifelong profession as a lifelong literacy teacher. As a University of Tennessee graduate, Virginia began teaching elementary school in a one room schoolhouse and continued her career in education until retirement in 1996. Along the way, she earned the title of Dr. Brannock at Florida State University in 1983. Virginia was known for her unerring capability to find a bargain, her zest for the beach, and her love of books of every ilk. Even though Virginia lived in Florida for most of her adult life, she never left Goodlettsville in her heart and cherished her close childhood friends. Virginia was the template for a Steel Magnolia and her girls can't imagine life without her. She is survived by her daughter, Evelyn Brannock and son-in-law, Michael Kimble; daughter Gail Brannock; grandson, Edward Madden; and brother, Lawson Myers (Bonnie). A graveside service will be held Tuesday, January 19th at 3 pm at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Cole & Garrett Funeral Home of Goodlettsville, TN.
