Virgina Olline Shorter, a loving wife and mother who was a dedicated LPN for over 36 years passed away on February 23, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on July 7, 1943, Virgina's life was a testament to her unwavering commitment to her family and her profession. She graduated from Vanderbilt University School of Nursing, beginning a career where she made a profound impact at Madison Hospital/Tennessee Christian Hospital, providing compassionate care to countless patients.

Virgina was not only dedicated to her work but also adored her time with family. She is survived by her beloved children, Rhonda Shorter and Tracy (Mikki) Shorter, and her cherished grandchildren, Brittany Jeffiers, Danny Rakes, and TJ Shorter. Her great-grandchildren, Jett and Maverick Jeffiers. All who lovingly referred to her as Grandma.

She is also remembered affectionately by her brother, Roy Hudgins, and her aunt Doris Stevenson, who were treasured parts of her life.

Virgina had love for adventure and a passion for travel. She always sought to see new destinations and experience the local culture, with a special fondness for going to the beach. These experiences enriched her life and contributed to the memories she created with her family.

In addition to her many accomplishments, Virgina held dear the legacy of her late husband of nearly 60 years, Ron Shorter, affectionately known as Grandpa, whose memory remains a significant part of her story. She also remembered her parents, Joe and Mary Hudgins, and her siblings, Peggy Giardono, Millie Anderson, and Dennis Hudgins, who have all preceded her in death.

In her later years Virginia became a true “foodie”, some of her favorites were a burger, chocolate shake, Lay’s Lightly Salted chips and Oreo Thins for dessert. She was adamant about sharing all food with her bed buddies, the precious Chihuahua’s.

Virgina Shorter will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege to know her. Her legacy of love, compassion, and commitment to family will remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
