SMITH, Viona LaCoste – Age 94.
Died: March 29, 2008. Born in Port Arthur, Texas, she grew up on her father's Shamrock Dairy. She lived in New Orleans following graduation from high school and worked at Pelican Cracker Company where she met Morgan Smith. Viona and Morgan were married in July 1940 and lived in New Orleans and later moved to Mobile, AL. In 1963, she and her family relocated to Pulaski, Tennessee where she lived for forty years before moving to Nashville. She died at the Health Center at Richland Place. A very special thanks to all her Richland Place staff for their special loving care. Mrs. Smith was a faithful Christian and a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. She enjoyed the beauty of God's creation, loving spring flowers, autumn leaves, and winter snows. As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she is survived by her husband of 67 years, Morgan V Smith; daughters, Viona Vee Rice Chuck of Nashville TN and Carolyn Womack William of Ashford AL; four grand-daughters, Valerie W Morgan of Atlanta GA Vicki W Kleindiendst of Geneva, Switzerland, Vivian W Galletly of Marietta GA, and Andrea W Howell of Dothan AL; and six great grandchildren, Gero and Peter Kleindiendst, Lily and Harrison Morgan, and Billy and Bannie Galletly. She also is survived by her step-grandchildren: Sara R Priest of Brentwood her "special angel"; Carol R. Bibb of North Barrington IL; Lee Rice of Atlanta GA; and Bill Rice of Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
Visitation will be on Monday, March 31st from 12-2 PM at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 800 Bellevue Rd, Nashville 646-3150.
The funeral service will follow the visitation at Redeemer Lutheran Church at 2 PM conducted by Pastor Philip Young.
A family internment will follow the service in The Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens, on Highway 100, 646-9292.
