JACOBS, Vernetta - Age 88 of Hendersonville, entered into eternal peace on Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at the Alive Hospice Center surrounded by her family. She was a much loved and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Vernetta was born in Tripp, S.D. on April 10, 1925, a daughter of the late Paul and Christina Schmidt. She married the late Wendell A. Jacobs in South Dakota and then moved to his home in Rossville, GA. Together they had seven beautiful children. Vernetta's house always smelled like a bakery. She would bake for anyone in need and made the best kuchen anyone could ever imagine. Vernetta thought her greatest legacy was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful example of faith, as a wife of a Church of Christ minister. She was involved in many service works for others such as, quilting, Bible correspondence, meals on wheels and card ministries. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Wendell A. Jacobs in 2003; her infant son, Timothy Jacobs. She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her sisters, Arlene Jumps and Glendora Zeitner; adoring daughters, Wendy Harmon, Katrina Fowler, Jill Hooper, Joy Smith and Dena Jacobs-Verzon; son; Joel Jacobs; sisters-in-law, Graydena Dilbeck and Barbara Jacobs; brother-in-law, Don Jacobs: 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Thursday July 18, 2013 from 3:30pm – 7:30pm at the Hendersonville Funeral Home, and then laid to rest at the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery on Friday morning at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Alive Hospice or Hendersonville Church of Christ.
