HAWKINS, Tom Gilliam 87 of "Hawkins Halt" in Goodlettsville, TN passed away October 10, 2008. He was a graduate of Austin Peay State University & George Peabody College. He was a Professor of Geography for 39 years having taught higher education in 7 states including 26 years at the University of Central Oklahoma. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the South Pacific & Japan and was the recipient of 3 Bronze Stars. He was a lifelong Baptist and taught Men's Bible classes for over 40 years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Calvin & Ivy Hawkins; sisters, Lorene Hunter, Esther Smart & Era Whitaker. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Juanita Ralph Hawkins; daughter, Annelle (Joseph) Huggins; grandsons, Michael & Ronald (Valerie) Huggins; sister, Wilma H. Gooch; loving in-laws, nieces, nephews & Susan Deason & Ricki Betnar. Visitation will be Saturday from 2 to 6pm. Services will be held 2pm Sunday at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Heflin officiating. Pallbearers will be Michael & Danny Ralph, Jim Smart, Tommy Smith, Rodger Gooch & Dan Gammons. Interment to follow at Beech Cemetery.
