Shirley Martin

Ms. Shirley Faye Ralph Martin, age 78, of Goodlettsville, passed away on June 27, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Sumner County, Tennessee on February 4, 1945 to the late Roy and Mary Ralph. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Leon Martin; son, Stephen Ralph Martin; two sisters, Myrtle L Heyn and Rebecca Liuzzi; and one brother, Roy E. Ralph.

Shirley enjoyed spending her time quilting and supporting her grandchildren going to baseball and softball games. Shirley was a graduate of Hendersonville High School, but spent one semester at Goodlettsville High School, where she met her husband, Stephen Leon Martin, and they were together for 48 years before his passing in 2012. All through high school, Shirley was an avid basketball player.

Shirley is survived by her daughter, Penny (Buck) Tarpey; grandchildren, Jessica (Joe) Seiler, Justin Tarpey, and Jarrett Tarpey; great grandchildren, Brayden, Brixton, and Beckham; brother, Billy T. (Kay) Ralph; sister-in-law, Nell (Rob) Baird; brother in laws, Ronnie Heyn and Frank Liuzzi. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, along with many friends at Walkers United Methodist Church.

A celebration of life will be held at 11am, Friday, June 30th in the chapel of Cole and Garrett Funeral Home in Goodlettsville. The family will receive friends from 4-8pm on Thursday evening and again one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will take place at Beech Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
