Sheryl Ann Brinkley

Ms. Sheryl Ann Brinkley, age 70, of Nashville, passed away on December 29, 2023 at her home. She was born on March 24, 1953 to the late Robert and Dorothy Brinkley. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by sister, Robbie LaSalle Brinkley; and a host of other family members.

She is survived by her sister, Dawn Smith; and several other family members.

Sheryl Ann worked for nine years as the manager of the board’s word processing center, she was named office automation systems administrator on July 1, 1988. In her new position, Sheryl Ann was involved in a number of critical tasks during and after the implementation of the board’s new WANG office automation system. Developing a board wide implementation plan and training program for the word processing, electronic mail, and time management systems was the initial focus of Sheryl Ann’s efforts. She also coordinated and conducted training for the staff of the General Board of Discipleship.  When the initial training was completed, she served as a “trouble shooter,” providing ongoing assistance to staff in solving problems and exploring new ways to use the system.

After retiring from The General Board of Discipleship, she began keeping children in her home. Known as “MiMi,” she spent over 23 years caring for kids as they were her own. From the beginning, she gave each child a nickname, Jada Johnson “TayTay,” Jasmine Johnson “Jazzy Wazzy,” Kennedi Taylor “Stinka Winka Brown Eyes” or “Juicy,” Khloe Garcia “Lucy,” Devon Burns “Dev." and Kim Garcia.

A life celebration will be held at 2pm, Friday, January 5^th in the chapel of Cole and Garrett Funeral Home in Goodlettsville, burial will follow at Benevolent Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 12-2pm prior to the service.
