Sarah Stewart Ballard, 67, of Goodlettsville passed away Thursday, November 4, 2021. She was born in Loudon, TN, January 25, 1954, the daughter of the late James Stewart and Ann Moore Stewart. Sarah was also preceded in death by a brother James. Sarah earned her Master of Science degree in Social Work from the University of Tennessee. She worked in that field her entire career and had retired from the State of TN. Although she had retired, she continued her studies and devotion to social work and was working towards licensure. For the past few years she worked at Neighborhood Health Clinic in Nashville. Sarah loved her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She also loved flowers, plants, the beach and traveling, particularly her visits to the Smoky Mountains. She was also a God-fearing woman. Over the years she enjoyed crafting in various forms, such as basket making, sewing, cross-stitching, knitting, crocheting, stamping and card making. In addition, Sarah enjoyed reading and antiques. She had many “great friends” who had become a part of her close network of caregivers as she battled cancer. She is survived by her son, Lee Ballard (Julia); a brother, Samuel Stewart (Kelli); her grandchildren, Hannah, Derek and Luke; and her niece Grace. Visitation in celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, November 10, 2021 from 5 until 7 pm at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home, Goodlettsville, TN.
