Sara Lee Armstrong O'Neill was born on June 16, 1925 to Bill and Charlie Armstrong in Austin, Texas. Mrs. O'Neill graduated in 1946 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Texas at Austin. She married James A. O'Neill, Jr. on December 21, 1947. She raised four children, creating a home wherever her husband's career took them, from Texas to Illinois to Oklahoma to New Orleans to London to Arkansas to Connecticut, and finally back to her beloved New Orleans. She was a gracious and popular hostess who made friends easily wherever she lived. In her final years she moved to Nashville to be with her eldest daughter, Kathy. Mrs. O'Neill is survived by her four children, Kathy Ted Clark, Terry Tom Carbonneau O'Neill, Sally Ray McMahon, and Andy Terri O'Neill; sixteen grandchildren, Lorie Mark Brawner, Ashley Brooks Randolph, Sara Carbonneau, Matthew Carissa, Lauren, Joshua, James, Colleen, Sarah, Jonathan, David, Timothy and Abigail McMahon, Michael Meagan O'Neill, Amanda and Lauren Huddleston; four great-grandchildren, Joey and Kate Brawner, Bethany and Andrew McMahon; seven nieces and nephews, Walter Pat Quealy Moore, Karen David Sawyer, Billy Deb Horan Moore, Win Cheryl Cunningham, Drew Sharon Cunningham, Kiki Joe McLean, and Katie Shotwell; her brother-in-law Jim Cunningham, her cousin Constance Hazard, and numerous extended family members who will all miss her dearly. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday August 3, 2006 at 11:30 AM with Chris Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-8 PM.
