PARISH, JR., Sam - Age 69, passed away in Nashville on Wednesday, September 20, 2006. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Parish Sr. Kathryn and his sister, Martha Parish Butler. He is survived by a very loving family, which includes his wife 40 years, Joan Parish; son, Dean Perryman wife Joy; daughters, Andrea, Ashley, and Kelly, and his beloved dog, Cuddles Parish. His sister, Ann Fraser of Germantown, TN, and many other loving nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive Sam.
Born in Tupelo, MS, Sam graduated from Tech High in Memphis, TN and earned a Mechanical Engineering Degree from the University of Mississippi where he was also a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He worked for Laclede Steel and briefly for LB Foster, and then for nearly 35 years with Wright Industries as a Sales Engineer and retired from Wright Industries. Sam enjoyed his church, Forest Hills Baptist in Nashville. He was an avid golfer and athlete. He always made time with Joan to vigorously pursue and support his children's activities, which were swimming, football, and other athletic and scholastic endeavors.
Visitation will be held at Forest Hills Baptist Church from 11-1 on Saturday, September 23, and a Memorial service will immediately follow at 1 pm with Rev. Jerry Winfield officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the TN Baptist Children's Home, P.O. Box 519, Franklin, TN 37065.
