Rosa Yates Brown

Rosa Yates Brown, 91, of Goodlettsville, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2023.  Born April 20, 1932, in Blackstone, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late James Edward Yates, Sr. and Elizabeth Farley Yates.

Mrs. Brown was a mother to everyone, often bringing comfort to those who sought advice from her.  She was a woman of strong faith and was a member of First Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church in North Chicago, Illinois.  Rosa was a graduate of the Atlanta School of Mortuary Science and was a funeral director at Scotts Funeral Home in Blackstone, Virginia.  Later she would become an inspector for Abbott Laboratories.  She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend who will be missed dearly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Delois Yates; brothers Thomas Yates, Herbert Yates, Benjamin Yates, and June Yates.

She is survived by her son Cyril (Carol) Brown; daughter Sybril Bennett; granddaughter Monica Bennett; sisters Florine Yates and Loverna Yates; brothers Joseph Yates and Clyde Yates; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members.

A Celebration of Life Service will take place at 1 pm on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home in Goodlettsville.  The family will welcome friends and visitors from 11 am until the time of the service.  Inurnment will follow in Hendersonville Memory Gardens at a later date.
