Roberta Christne Brinkley Parrish, Born February 29, 1924 in Nashville, TN.
Preceded in death by parents, Robert Lee Brinkley and Matie Cooper, and husband, Dr. Thomas F. Parrish. Survived by sister, Betty Cooper May of Hadden Heights, NJ.; children, Thomas Franklin Parrish Jr. Angela of Tullahoma, TN, Laura Francis Parrish of Wilmington, DE, and William Robert Parrish Catherine of Concord, NC. She graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1946 and later was a member of Nashville Academy of Medicine Alliance. She was active in several garden clubs: Nashville Chapter of Ikebana International, Horticultural Society of Davidson County, Tennessee Federation of Garden Clubs, National Council of State Garden Clubs, and Tennessee Council of Nationally Accredited Flower Show Judges. She was a member of Friends of Cheekwood and was a past chairman of the Trees of Christmas exhibit. She was a long time member of the Altar Guild at Belle Meade United Methodist Church. She was a descendent of Robert Cartwright, one of the Founding families of Middle Tennessee, and William Brewster, who came to America on the Mayflower. She was a member of The Mayflower Society, the Francis Nash Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and The National Society of the Dames of America in The Commonwealth of Virginia. The graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2007 at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Belle Meade Methodist Church, Cheekwood, or Vanderbilt.
