Robert Nesbitt Patey, 90, retired Vice-President and Chief Engineer of the Nashville Gas Company and regional Vice-President of Tennessee Natural Gas Company, died peacefully at his home on August 13, 2013. Robert Bob was born March 24, 1923 in Dickson County, TN. He was a 1st Lieutenant in the Army-Air Force during WWII stationed in the Pacific and received engineering degrees from Tennessee Tech and the University of Kentucky. Robert Patey was awarded Engineer of the Year in 1974 by the TN Society of Professional Engineers and retired after 38 years of service with the company.
He was the son of James Stokes Patey and Bessie Mai Skelton Patey. He is predeceased by his first wife Hester Huddleston Patey; his brother, James Garner Patey; and his two step-daughters, Laura McBride Finnin and Jennifer McBride. He is survived by his wife Susan Hite Patey; his daughters, Roberta Richard Willis of Cumming, GA, Patrecia John Zebrowski of Cumberland RI and Camellia patey of Buffalo Grove, IL; nieces, Carolyn P. Mac Welch of Anderson, SC and Marjorie P. Michael Burkart of Johns Island, SC; and two grandchildren Nathan Kaitlin Finnin and Janie Finnin.
His funeral service will be led by Rev. Randy Goodman and Rev. Nathan Finnin at Hendersonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be prior to the service at 9:00 a.m.
Contributions may be made to the Hendersonville First United Methodist Church Followers Sunday School Class at 217 E. Main St. Hendersonville, TN or to Caris Hospice Healthcare, 2308A Memorial Blvd. Springfield, TN.
