July 2, 1952-December 7,2024
Robert "Bob" Leigh Kephart, Jr., 72, of Goodlettsville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 7, 2024, in Nashville, Tennessee. Born on July 2, 1952, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Bob was the son of the late Robert Leigh Kephart and Violet Mae Axtell Kephart.
A veteran, Bob honorably served his country as a Military Police Officer (95B) in the United States Army. Following his military service, he found fulfilment in a long career as a civil engineer surveyor, a profession that reflected his patience, precision, and dedication. He was a man of endless patience and understanding. Bob's life revolved around his deep love for his family, he had a special bond with his baby granddaughters, Evie and Emileigh. Bob loved cooking breakfast for his girls and cherished every moment spent at home with them.
A man of many talents and interests, Bob was known for his musical talents, delighting his family and friends with his guitar playing and passionate singing. He enjoyed playing golf and going to the driving range. He carried a passion for sports being an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Kansas City Chiefs and the Tennessee Titans. He enjoyed sharing a beer with anyone that would sit and listen to his tales about his family and life adventures, from living and traveling around Europe on a tour bus when Jenny was pregnant with their first born daughter Holly, to playing music in bars and traveling the national parks in a van with Jenny.
One of Bob's greatest pleasures was simply being present: sitting in the driveway with Jenny and K.C., while watching his granddaughters play, or listening to music atop his hill as the sun set and drinking a beer. He enjoyed tinkering on projects around the house, especially working on the tractor while with his son in law Patrick. Bob shared a unique sense of humor with his daughter, Robin. They affectionately called each other "George" and "Fred" a running joke that no one else quite understood but brought them endless laughter. That playful bond was a perfect reflection of the joy he brought to those around him.
He loved hearing from his family in Iowa, and looked forward to his Saturday phone calls from his brother Bart.
His absence will be a huge void in his family's life.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Timothy Warner.
Bob's legacy will continue through his beloved family.
