Robert (Larry) Garrett, Sr., age 70 of Hendersonville passed away May 12, 2015. Larry was born on March 9, 1945 to the late Robert Love Garrett and Henrietta Raymer Garrett.
A lifelong resident of Shackle Island, Larry graduated from Hendersonville High School and served in the National Guard. He was a farmer and loved his work; he loved to trade horses and mules, barrel racing and especially loved being "Pappy" to Weston and Ava. In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his sisters, Beverly Ann and Juanita Garrett.
Larry is survived by his wife of 36 years, Helen Garrett; children, Robert Garrett, Jr. and Kelly (Justin) Ochs; grandchildren, Weston and Ava Ochs; sisters, Helen (Harold) Palmer, Mary Lou (Ed) Wilson and Becky Sanders; and brother, Tommy (Tonya) Garrett.
A life celebration service will be conducted on Saturday, May 16th at 10:00 A.M. from the Chapel of Cole and Garrett Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Goodman officiating. Interment will follow in Historic Beech Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be on Friday, May 15th from 4-8 P.M. and Saturday one hour prior to the service. Larry's nephews will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry, Thompson, Daryl Ralph, Allen Curtis and Dorris Holman.
