Rick Staley, Jr.

June 10, 1984 — August 7, 2013

Born in Madison, TN on June 10, 1984 Departed on August 7, 2013 and resided in Knoxville, TN

Our beloved Rick was born on June 10, 1984 in Nashville, TN, as the first of Marianne Boyle Staley and Rick Staley's seven children. The family grew to seven children with five more boys, William, Michael, Joseph, Daniel and Matthew and one daughter, Julianne. Rick was a very active parishioner of Saint John Vianney Catholic Church, serving as an altar boy in his youth and eventually becoming a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 10010. Rick coached his brother Danny's soccer team throughout his teens until he graduated in 2002 from Hendersonville High School. He went on to earn a Bachelors degree in Accounting and Finance from Tennessee Technological University. During his time at TTU, Rick became a brother in the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity and was currently serving as President of the Sig Ep Tennessee Epsilon Alumni Association. In 2012, Rick accepted a position as a Western U.S. Logistics Coordinator with Pilot Flying J in Knoxville, TN.
Being the oldest of seven children, Rick was a leader and a big brother too, and mentor of, not only his younger siblings, but countless peers and friends. Rick brought much joy and laughter to every person he encountered. He was the smartest guy around and there was never a problem or repair he couldn't fix. Rick became the leader of our family and carried us through many difficult life events. He had the utmost love and respect for his Mum—the only time he ever challenged her was during their ongoing word-puzzle games. Rick loved concerts and sports, and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Rick also loved hiking, caving, and spending time outdoors. He was the epitome of a man's man.
Rick's unexpected departure from our lives here on Earth is heartbreaking. But we know how loving, humble, and holy Rick was and we have peace knowing he is with Jesus Christ at this very moment.
Funeral Mass will be Monday 10am at St. John Vianney Catholic Church Gallatin, TN. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-8pm at HENDERSONVILLE FUNERAL HOME 353 Johnny Cash Pkwy Hendersonville, TN 37075 615 824-3855
