Died December 6th, 2013. Born March 29, 1924. Preceded in death by husband, Lester Vinton; parents Lida and Otis Brugge of Memphis, Tennessee. Survived by daughter Dorothy Hooper (Jerry) of Nashville, and Emily Phillips (Randy) from Charlotte, NC; grandchildren Leslie Chinery of Washington D.C., John Chinery (Annely), of Springfield, MA, Denise Partain (Walter) of Knoxville, Catherine Phelps (Hollis), and Abigail Phillips; great-grandchildren James Chinery, Jordon and Adelaide Partain, Alden and Sebastian Phelps. She is also survived by brother Martin Joseph Brugge (Roberta), nephew Michael Brugge (Celia) and nieces Robin Brugge and Dixie Struasser (Kurt), all of Memphis, Tennessee.
Peggy was a graduate of Memphis State University, and received a Masters at Peabody College. She taught in Rutherford County and Murfreesboro City Schools. Her career included positions of Reading Supervisor in Wilson and Rutherford Counties. Affliliations included National President of the International Reading Association, Regent of the Hardy Murfree Chapter of the DAR, membership in Colonial Dames, and the Murfreesboro Women's Club.
Visitation is Sunday Dec. 15 from 2-4 at West Harpeth Funeral Home, 6962 Charlotte Pike. The memorial service is Monday, December 16, at 12 noon. Burial of Lester and Peggy Harmon will be at the Veterans Cemetery on McCrory Lane, Monday, December 16 at 1 PM. WEST HARPETH FUNERAL HM, 352-9400.
