Pastor Bobby Lewis Flatt left for his heavenly home on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at his residence in Cross Plains, Tennessee.

He was born January 13, 1936 in Robertson County to parents, Alton and Lena Bush Flatt. Pastor Bobby Flatt grew up on a farm; his father was a sharecropper in Robertson County.

A humble man who cared more for others than for himself is a good way to describe Pastor Flatt. Fifty-seven years Pastor Flatt lived to serve the Lord. He established and pastored churches in Greenbrier, Ashland City, Gallatin, Eden Baptist Church in Goodlettsville, Shelbyville, Cookeville Baptist Church, Greenwood Baptist in Cross Plains, Adolphus, KY and presently Associate Pastor of Good Shepherd Baptist Church in Goodlettsville. He was a great teacher. A very talented man of God, he wrote over 100 gospel songs as well as being an excellent singer; he wrote beautiful poetry; he wrote over 8,000 devotional sayings; he played the guitar and piano, made two gospel tracts; he was very interested in Indian artifacts and loved hunting and fishing. A life well lived and enjoyed until his Master called him home.

Pastor Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Alton and Lena Flatt; wife, Rose Marie Flatt; three brothers, Ray Flatt, Jackie Flatt, Donald Flatt.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Pastor Larry Flatt and Teresa; daughter, Lisa Flatt; sister, Betty Mae Ware; six grandchildren, Andy Flatt, Casey (Brian) Loden, Candace Flatt (Jonathan Herrington), Mindy Hughes (Timmy Jacobs, Anthony Hughes (Jenna Mason Sircy) and Melissa (Brent) Dorris and twenty-one great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

A Celebration of Life for Pastor Bobby Flatt will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at the Good Shepherd Baptist Church, 1163 Campbell Road, Goodlettsville, TN with Bro. Kenneth Davis and Pastor Larry Flatt officiating. Interment will follow at White House Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Loden, Brent Dorris, Anthony Hughes, Andrew Flatt, Austin Jacobs, Tim Jacobs. Honorary pallbearers will be Bro. Gary Gardiner, Bro. Randy Anderson, Bro. Bob Adams, Deacon Henry Anderson, Deacon Howard Green, Tristen Loden, Cody Jacobs, Harley Jacobs and Jonathan Herrington.

Visitation will be Monday, October 24th from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, October 25th from 9:00 a.m. until the service at 2:00 p.m. at the church.
