Opal Christine Maynor, 96 of Cottontown passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2021. Born September 23, 1924 in Macon County, TN, she was the daughter of the late Leonard Woodard and Maude Mathis Woodard. Opal was also preceded in death by her husband, James Alvin Maynor; sons-in-law, Joe B. Jones and Horace Walton Garrison, Jr; and her siblings, Leonard, Lawson, Johnny, Fred, Lovie and Gladys. Opal was a hardworking individual who enjoyed the simple life. She and her late husband were farmers, however, Opal also spent several years working for Oscar Mayer as well as other area businesses. She and Alvin had been married 50 years at the time of his passing in 1990. She loved gardening and working in her yard which she still did in recent years. She loved her family and all the gatherings they would have. She enjoyed watching her grandson Walton's stock car races, sewing quilts and doll clothes, cooking, clogging, gospel and country music. She loved to be on the go and enjoyed auctions, garage sales or occasionally looking at flowers in others' gardens. Opal was the oldest member of Station Camp Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughters, Joyce Marie Hawkins (Richard Hansen) and Peggy Elaine Garrison; grandchildren, Jeffery Alan Jones (Lori), Jere Lee Jones (Jeanean), Jennifer Jones (Shawn), Donna Gail Garrison Dorris, Horace Walton Garrison III (Amanda), and Beth Angel Garrison-Crooks (Allan); great-grandchildren, Christian, Ashlynn, Garrison, Nichole, Brooke, Brandon and Jacob; and 7 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home, Goodlettsville, Thursday, April 22nd from 1 to 7 pm and Friday, April 23rd from 10 am until 12 noon. A celebration of life service will be held at the funeral home Friday at noon followed by interment at Crestview Memory Gardens, Gallatin, TN.
