BURNETT, Odessa Bruce Linton age, 91, passed away on July 28, 2008. She was the daughter of Mary Bruce and William James Linton. She was raised in the Linton community of western Davidson County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilton W. Burnett; and by three brothers, Frank, Bruce, and Ed Linton. She is survived by her brother, Jim Linton; two sisters, Ethel Williams and Lena Pullen; son, Wilton W. Burnett, Jr. and daughter, Shirley B. Gillespie John; grandson, Drew Gillespie and granddaughter, Leigh Holbrook Don. Mrs. Burnett was secretary to the developers of West Meade Farms for many years before retiring in the early 1970's. She remained actively involved in the Daughters of the American Revolution, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Cheekwood, and other organizations as well as volunteering at Belle Meade Mansion for many years. She and her husband were active members of the West End Church of Christ. Services will be on Thursday July 31, 2008 at 11 am at the Harpeth Hills Funeral Home with Dr. Mack Wayne Craig officiating. Interment will follow in the Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Mid-South Chapter, 4201 Hillsboro Rd., Nashville, Tn. 37215. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4-7 pm and on Thursday from 10-11 am at the HARPETH HILLS FUNERAL HOME, 9090 HWY 100, 615 646-9292.
