Age 91 of Goodlettsville, TN, passed away on June 26, 2013; born July 4, 1921 in Red Boiling Springs, TN to the late Hillus Guy and Ola Inez Smith Copas. Preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Edith Mae Spivey Copas; by his sisters, Ina Owen and Wynema Smith, his brother, Elwood Copas, and his daughter-in-law, Jean Copas. Survived by his daughter, Sheila Mitchell and husband, Bill, of Hendersonville; his sons, Gary Copas of Goodlettsville, TN; Michael and Milton Copas of Sevier County, TN; his grandson, Christopher Copas of Goodlettsville, TN; his granddaughters, Alicen Mitchell of Nashville, TN; Tiffany Barnett and husband, Dave, of Hendersonville, TN; and his sister, Evelyn Parks, of Shelbyville, TN. He was a War World II Army veteran, with the 7th Army in its Mediterranean entry into France, Belgium and Germany; was given rank of Staff Sgt at his Oregon training camp where his 65 year marriage began with Edith on her 19th birthday, Sept 7, 1943, following her solo journey from their hometown of Red Boiling Springs to the Pacific coast; after the War they resided and raised a family in Madison, TN; he was a real estate broker, operating NS Copas Realty for many years; at his passing he was a deacon and member of McFerrin Missionary Baptist Church. His funeral will be at 2:00 pm on Monday, July 1, at McFerrin Missionary Baptist Church, 431 Old Hickory Blvd, in Madison, with visitation at the Church from 12:00 pm to service time; Brother Johnny Carver officiating. Interment at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Goodlettsville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to the Church or to Gideon International in his memory.
