Nora Jo-Ann Hunter Jenkins, January 23, 2019, age 87. Born in Nashville, TN on November 2, 1931 to the late Ella Catherine Hessey Hunter and Thomas William Hunter, Sr. She graduated from Hendersonville High School in 1949, where she played basketball, was a cheerleader, and Homecoming Queen. She received her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Tennessee Knoxville, and became a very successful real estate agent. Later, Jo-Ann moved to Dallas TX and met her future husband, M.L. "Roy" Jenkins. Together they started Mart Wholesale Jewelry until they retired to Ocala, FL. Roy passed away on April 11, 2008. In 2013, Jo-Ann moved home to Goodlettsville to be near her family. Also preceding her in death were her brothers, Alonzo, Dewey, and William Hunter; sisters, Virginia Thomas Garrett and Ellen Parker. She is survived by her brother, Thomas William Hunter, Jr; sister, Catherine Claire Hunter McGee; granddaughter, Alisha Jenkins Carter; great-grandchildren, Caleb and Natysha Carter. Visitation will be at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home, Goodlettsville Friday from 5-8 pm. Funeral service will be 2 pm Saturday January 26 at Beech Cumberland Presbyterian Church with visitation one hour prior to service time. Interment Beech Cemetery. Honorary pallbearer will be Dr. Robert Beck. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the June Hunter Scholarship Fund or the charity of your choice.
