Noble Earl “Dusty” Cummings III, 77, of Goodlettsville, passed away November 21, 2023 due to complications from Cancer and Parkinson’s Disease. He passed away, as he always wished, peacefully at his home with his loving daughter and son by his side.
Dusty was born on November 3rd, 1946 to the late Virginia Buchanan Cummings and the late Noble Earl “Dubby” Cummings Jr. in Nashville, TN.
Growing up in the Union Hill community, on the family land dating back to the late 1700’s, he worked the farm and orchards with his family, rode horses and admired western movies.
One of the most important and significant aspects of his life were the foundations of lifelong friendships created during his formative years in the Union Hill and Goodlettsville area. A graduate of Goodlettsville High School, Class of 1965, and The University of Tennessee Knoxville, class of 1970, where he earned a degree in Agricultural Economics, even more friendships were cultivated and grew over the years of his life.
Dusty was a man of the sharpest wit, a lover of music, and a kindhearted loyal friend. He loved to laugh and make others laugh. He loved his alma-mater’s Vols’ and Titan’s football, boating and the beach; but it was his home, children and grandchildren, friends and family he loved above all else. Dusty made everyone feel loved, that they were special, and so many possessed an important place in his huge heart. Stories upon stories have been told and will continue to be shared by all who loved him.
Dusty will be missed and cherished dearly by everyone who knew him.
Dusty was predeceased by his father Noble Earl “Dubby” Cummings Jr; mother Virginia Buchanan Cummings; sister Mecca Cummings Burkhalter; and brother-in law James “J.D.” White.
He is survived by sister Minna Ware (James) White; son Noble Earl Cummings IV; daughter Tiffany (Stephen) Cummings Speshock; grandchildren Abram Buchanan Speshock and Amelia Rose Speshock (the eighth generation of his family to live on the same farmland); former wife Sherry Fisher; nieces, nephews, dear cousins and many friends.
