Nellie Hill

HILL, Nellie Victoria Collier age 84 passed away on Friday, June 25, 2010 after a short illness. She is preceded in death by her husband, of 60 years, John Benjamin Ben Hill and her granddaughter, Victoria Paige Waggoner. She is survived by her two daughters, Faye Hill Smith and Vicki Hill Burns Al; four grandchildren, Shannon Smith, Megan Miller, Peyton Tippets Jacob, and Brandon Burns; three grandsons, Joshua Smith, Maddux Miller, and Jaxon Tippets. Nellie graduated from Bellevue High School where she was awarded top typing awards. Nellie and Ben were the first couple married in 1945 in the chapel of Harpeth Heights Baptist Church. Nellie was an active member for many years of the Women's Auxiliary of the Plumbing, Heating, Cooling Contractors and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels through Park Avenue Baptist Church. She was a charter member of Harpeth Heights Baptist Church, member of Glendale Baptist Church and Park Avenue Baptist Church. Officiating the graveside service in the Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens will be Rev. Bob Mowrey, long time pastor and friend. Barbara Whittaker will praise the Lord and honor Nellie in a song. The family will receive visitation on Sunday from 2 pm-5pm at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home. Graveside services will be on Monday at 10 am Pallbearers will be Lewis Collier, Joe Collier, Al Burns, Brandon Burns, Joshua Smith, Maddux Miller, David Hill and Houston Hill. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
