Michael Joseph Tidwell

January 2, 1975 — December 7, 2024

Nashville

Michael Joseph Tidwell, a beloved son, father, and musician, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2024, in his hometown of Nashville, Tennessee. Born January 2, 1975, he was the son of Mary Catherine Baltz Tidwell and the late Doug Tidwell.

A self-taught guitarist, Michael brought joy to many through his music. His talents extended beyond just playing instruments; he played both guitar and bass guitar, lent his voice to vocals, and penned his own songs. Michael was a proud member of local bands, including Lab Ratz and Impetuous Doom, allowing him to share his musical gifts with the Nashville community he cherished.

In addition to his musical pursuits, Michael was an avid football fan. He held a fierce loyalty to the Tennessee Volunteers football team, cheered for the Tennessee Titans, and also supported the Cincinnati Bengals.

Michael is survived by his loving mother, Mary Catherine Baltz Tidwell; his son, Tyler Nathan Tidwell; brother David Tidwell; his girlfriend, Elizabeth Skeens; and the mother of his son, Rhonda Jackson Tidwell.  He is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins who loved him dearly and will truly miss him.  The love he shared with his family and friends will be deeply missed, but his vibrant spirit will continue to resonate through the memories he created and the music he left behind.  The family would also like to thank the doctors and nurses at TriStar Southern Hills for the care they showed Michael.  Also, thank you to the Adoration Hospice team for their dedication and excellent care at his home.  Rebecca, Amy, Christy, Jenna, Lori, and Sherry.  Last, but not least, thank you to Sister Pat for her prayers, support, and guidance.

A memorial service to celebrate Michael's life is being planned.  The date/time/location will be added to this obituary once they have been determined.
