Michael Chisholm

Twenty-two years ago in June a young man named Michael Craig Chisholm became a quadriplegic following a traumatic injury from a swimming accident. This was a life changing event in the life of Craig Chisholm. Everyday had to be a constant struggle to maintain an optimistic attitude and seek out the positive aspects of his life.

Craig was born in Madison, TN to Michael Van Chisholm and Reva Baker Chisholm on November 12, 1970. He went to Hendersonville High School and graduated in 1989. He went on to earn a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from UT Knoxville. He lacked one year finishing his schooling when he had his swimming accident; even with his health-related complications and limitations in his daily life, he went back to school and received his degree. This speaks volumes about Craig and tells what a unwavering man he was.

Craig passed away suddenly Saturday, October 15, 2016 in Franklin, KY while traveling to a car show. He was 45 years of age.

Craig was a staunch UT fan, he never met a stranger, loved country music, a couple of his favorites were George Jones and Bob Seger, loved his hot and spicy food and could eat bacon seven days a week as long as it was seasoned different for each day, but out of all his many passions in life, he loved car shows the most. He traveled to many places to attend those car shows, his favorite cars were muscle cars and classic cars. Craig took great pride in his custom van which gave him the freedom to attend shows which was a source of many good memories and brought to his life much enjoyment. His favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt.

Craig is preceded in death by his grandparents, Thomas Van and Helen Chisholm and Paul and Thelma Baker. He is survived by his loving family, father and step-mother, Mike and Karen Chisholm; mother and step-father, Reva and Alan Allman; step-brother, Andy Allman.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all his nurses and caregivers through the years for their love and support.

Following strict instructions from Craig, cremation was chosen as his final disposition with no visitation or services.
