SLATER, Martha Elizabeth, January 9, 2009, age 88 of Hendersonville. Born in Goodlettsville May 12, 1920. Preceded in death by her parents, Robert Clyde Holt and Jenny Cantrell Holt; and her infant son, Earl Garfield Slater, Jr. Survived by her husband of 66 years, Earl G. Slater; daughter, Anita Slater Capps; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Celia) Armstrong, Julie (Wayne) Penney, Amy (Ken) Adams, and Christy (Robert) Wells; sixteen great-grandchildren; brother, Robert (Lettie) Holt, Sr.; as well as nieces and a nephew. Mrs. Slater was the oldest standing Member of Luton�'s United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 9851 in Hendersonville. Visitation will be at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home Sunday from 2-8 pm., and where funeral service will be held Monday January 12, at 1 pm with Bro. Gene Gober, and Bro. William Reding, officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Raymond Bois, Bob Davis, Dewey Meadors, Mark Paul, Harold Rice, and Ernie Fultz will serve as pallbearers.
