SANDERS, Martha Jo Goode, born in Woodbury, Tennessee in Cannon County on July 1, 1932. She was preceded in death by her parents Norman Fred and Gertrude Goode and her brother James Norman Goode. She was called home to her Lord on July 18, 2010. She graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1948 and George Peabody College for Teachers at Vanderbilt in 1952. She came from a family of lifelong educators and taught Spanish in the old county school system and at St. Cecilia Academy. An avid bridge player, she was part of several bridge clubs, one for more than 50 years. In addition she was active in her church, Belle Meade United Methodist, where she was a member for more than 50 years, and serving in numerous volunteer roles. She also was an active volunteer with Nashville's swimming community having served as meet secretary for many events. Survived by her husband Edwin Bonbright Robards Sanders; daughters, Lesley Page Jeffrey Glaser and Martha Claire Glenn McCall; five grandchildren, Lindsay Claire, Jeffrey Scott, Jr., Gregory Page Glaser; and Glenn William III and Edwin Robards Sanders McCall. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. On Tuesday July 20th in the parlor at Belle Meade United Methodist Church with a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Reverend Mike Ripski officiating.
