CUNNINGHAM, Martha McHenry, November 16, 2012, age 94 of Nashville. Preceded in death by her parents, Joseph M. McHenry, and Elizabeth Mann McHenry. Survived by her husband of 66 years Ben Donald Cunningham, Sr.; children, Don (Pam) Cunningham, Richard (Janet) Cunningham, Cecelia (David) Hettinger; brothers, Joseph M. McHenry, and Richard (Peggy) McHenry; sister-in-law, Harriet Drumright McHenry; grandchildren, Jeff (Mary Kelly) Cunningham, Kellie Hicks, Carolyn Cunningham, Emily Cunningham, Mary Beth (Jay) Hettinger Tift, Margaret Hettinger, Jane Hettinger; great-grandchildren, Kevin Hicks, Jacqueline Cunningham, Mary Katherine Cunningham. She was a lifelong resident of Nashville, graduating from St. Bernard Academy. She received a Bachelor of Arts from Vanderbilt University where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She was an active community volunteer. She was both a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at Nashville Memorial Hospital, and she prepared food for Meals on Wheels at Connell Memorial United Methodist Church. She and her husband shared many interests, most importantly their family and friends, together with gardening, duplicate bridge, reading, cooking, and extensive travel. She was an active member of the Centennial Club, and a charter member of an informal group known as the Jolly Beavers. A memorial service will be held Friday, November 23, 2012 at 2pm at Connell Memorial United Methodist Church in Goodlettsville. Visitation at the church two hours prior to service time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Connell Memorial United Methodist Church. The family wishes to thank all the staff at Richland Place, and to special friends and caregivers Ruby Fleming and Doreen Thompson.
