Martha Bennett

BENNETT, Martha Peek. Born February 20, 1913, died September 7, 2007.
Mrs. Bennett was one of eight children born to David L. Peek and Nancy Hestand Peek in Gainsboro, Jackson County, Tennessee. A resident of Nashville since 1924, she was married to Eldred L. Bennett who predeceased her in 1967. Together they founded Bennett Tool and Die Company in 1951. They had four children who survive: Annette Ralph (John Henry), Columbia, TN, Eli (Dorris E.) Bennett (Jeanette), Goodlettsville, TN, Barbara Dildy (Bobby), Gallatin, TN; and Nancy Bennett, Goodlettsville, TN. Mrs. Bennett has ten grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and six great great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Abundant Life Sunday School Class of Goodlettsville First Baptist Church. After her retirement, she was active in the Monday Morning Seniors Bowling League, Hendersonville; the past president of the Coles Ferry Community Organization, La Guardo; the Goodlettsville Area Chamber of Commerce; along with many other civic activities. The Bennett family gives many thanks and appreciation to care givers Marie Williams, Ida Durham, Janie Jones, Susan Sparks, and Cookie Pond for their love and attention to her needs. Appreciation is also extended to the professionals of Guardian Hospice for the months of excellent care provided to our mother. Visitation will be at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home, Goodlettsville, where the family will receive friends Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 10, at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Goodlettsville. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Dee Bennett, Jeff Bennett, Tee Adamson, Jay Adamson, Mike Leggett, Steve Britton, David Dildy, and Dennis Clark. Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Buquo, Billy Benz, Jerry Garrett, Haskel Barlow, Bobby Hunter, Gary Norton, Thomas Downey, David Elder, Chuck Connelly, and Phillip Lawrence.
