TINNON, Marie Carnahan Newlin, ("Rete"), age 90, passed away peacefully into the Lord's hands on April 30, 2012. Preceded in death by parents, John H. and Hattie B. Carnahan, husbands, George Marshall Newlin, Frank R, Tinnon, and stepson, Bobby Tinnon. Survived by sister, Nancy Carnahan Jenkins and brother-in-law Glenn Jenkins. Nephews, Cary B. (Lee) Galbreath, Bryan (Robin) Jenkins. Nieces, Tammy G. (Neil) Peace, Emily G. (Curt) Campbell, Kelly (Mark) Klassen, Great Nephews and Nieces, Cory (Kelsey) Peace, Jordan Peace, Elise, Sarah and Brandon Galbreath, John Marlin and McKay Campbell, Michael, Robert and Zachary Klassen, Ashley, Evan and Tresia Jenkins. daughter-in-law, Prissy B. Tinnon, Step-granddaughter, Mandi (Eric) Fruechtemeyer, Step-great granddaughter, Ella Brown Fruechtemeyer. Marie was educated at Old Center Elementary and Goodlettsville High School, class of 1939 where she played basketball. After graduating from Watkins Institute, she served as administrative assistant for Washington Manufacturing Co. for 43 �½ years. After retirement, she volunteered as Executive Director of the Goodlettsville Chamber of Commerce for 6 years cherishing each minute working in her hometown she loved dearly for 90 years. The Marie C. Tinnon Community Service award is awarded each year in her honor at the annual chamber banquet. Special thanks to all at Vanco Manor Nursing Home for their loving care. Visitation will be from 11-2 Thursday, May 3, Cole & Garrett Funeral Home, Goodlettsville with a graveside service at 3:00 pm at Spring Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews and great nephews. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her honor to Men of Valor Prison Ministry, c/o David Pitzer, CPA, 118 Two Mile Pike, Goodlettsville, TN 37072.
