Lula Mai Cliburn Allen, 83 of Hendersonville passed away Monday January 10, 2022. Born October 2, 1938 in Nashville, TN, Lula was the daughter of the late Ernis DeSheles and Martha Williamson DeSheles. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Cliburn, Sr.; her second husband, Don Allen; her son. Terry Cliburn; her grandson, Thomas Cliburn III; and a sister, Wanda Gamble. Lula and her first husband, Thomas married at an early age and moved to Indiana where they raised their family. Thomas died in 1962 and Lula moved back to Tennessee settling in Madison. She met her second husband, Don Allen in Goodlettsville. Lula and Don owned and operated The Bait Shop in Hendersonville for many years. After Don’s passing, Lula moved to Hendersonville. Lula loved fishing and was very knowledgeable about it. She especially enjoyed her time fishing on Lake Okeechobee. She was a strong-willed person but was also very sweet and had a “heart of gold”. She would go out of her way to help her family and others. She was a loving a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. Lula had been a member of the Rivergate Church of Christ for Many years. She is survived by her children, Thomas (Kathy) Cliburn, Jr. and Tina Cliburn Hall; her sisters, Pat (Ray) Walker and Peggy Ward; 9 grandchildren, Carol Pitts (Tom), Candy Carr (Ray), Jennifer Cliburn, Tia Cliburn, Tara Cliburn, Gary Swafford (Katie), Austin Hall, and Nina Hall; 9 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. A celebration of life service will be held at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home, Goodlettsville, TN on Friday January 14th at 1 PM followed by a graveside service in New Hope Cemetery, Westmoreland, TN. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 11 AM until 1 PM.
