HUDSON, Lonnie Allen, Age 70, of Springfield, TN, passed away February 27, 2012. He was born on February 19, 1942. Allen has had a long fruitful life. For some 69 years Allen did not have a serious illness to speak of. The last two years have more than made up for the others. Allen began having serious health issues as he and Dot were beginning to enjoy their retirement. Medical problems began to come from all directions within his body. Allen fought off each one as they came until it became too much. So, today we get to say he is finally resting peacefully. Allen was surrounded by his loving family as he passed this life. Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Allen and Katheryn Iona Hudson; he is survived by his super strong, loving wife, Dorothy (Dottie), they enjoyed each other and life for 17 years. Allen was a proud ex-member of the United States Marine Corp. Upon completion of his military service he settled into his work life as a proud member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local Union #177 as an Apprentice and a Journeyman Sheet Metal Worker in the construction industry. In 1993, Allen became a Gas and Mechanical Inspector for the Metropolitan Nashville Codes Department. After serving as a Codes Inspector he proceeded to become an Inspector for the Metropolitan Nashville Fire Department where he remained until his retirement. Allen enjoyed wood working and traveling with Dottie to locations where the local craft persons of that geographical area plied their trade or craft. Allen was a long time member of the Buena Vista East Nashville Lodge #560, the Scottish Rites and the Al Menah Temple of the Shrine. He was a former Captain of the Directors Staff of Al Menah. Other than his loving spouse Dottie, Allen is survived by his extended family of children; daughters, Karen (Scott) Cannon, Julie Hudson; sons, Steve (Ann) Hudson, Brian (Robin) Hudson; stepsons, Charles (Kim) Minton, Jeremy (Carole) Minton; brothers, Lawrence (Patty), Ross (Sandra), and Scott (Shirley) Hudson; special friend, Herbert (Vickie) Woods; 11 very precious grandchildren, each of which has their own special spot in Pa Paw's heart. Honorary pallbearers will be, Herbert Woods, Bobby Krantz, Frankie Spain, Luke Norman, Neal Dickens, Wayne Spain, Wayne Dabbs, Terry Kestner, and Tommy Hale. Family will receive friends, Wednesday, February 29, 2012, from 4-8 pm at Cole & Garrett Goodlettsville, with a Masonic Service Wednesday evening at 7 pm. Service will be Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 2pm with visitation 2 hrs prior to the Service. In Lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Allen's name to the Organization or Charity of your choice.
