Linda Joyce (Bowen) Gupton passed away peacefully on April 27th, at the age of 80 in White House, TN. This beautiful lady conquered breast cancer in 1991, and when it returned in 2017, she triumphed yet again by never losing her tenacious spirit. She chose to remain at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was tough, stubborn, loving, witty, and brave throughout the last weeks of her life; fighting hard until her last journey to be with the Lord. Linda Joyce was born on Christmas Day, 1939 in Nashville, TN to the late William Roy and Virginia Arlee (Sanders) Bowen. She is preceded in death by her husband William "Billy" Felix Gupton, and her son Kerry Randall Gupton. She is survived by her children Michael Kevin Gupton and Sherrie (Quentin) Gupton Pewitt; grandchildren, Tristan Cole and Gabriella Reese Pewitt. Linda graduated from Cohn High School (Nashville) class of 1957. She still attended class reunions and stayed in contact with those friends. She also attended Falls Business College, studying business and accounting. She was an amazing homemaker, the school secretary at West Cheatham Elementary, worked for Shoney's Corp offices, and most recently worked conventions at Music City Center. For fun, she loved traveling to the beach where she and Billy spent many winters in Florida with friends and family. She traveled most of the US, Europe, and the Caribbean Islands. Memaw loved to watch and cheer for her granddaughter, Gabbi playing softball tournaments. She taught Tristan to play the computer, starting at the age of 1, and loved to watch him master video games. She was a big fan of the Atlanta Braves and loved when Mike took her to games. She was a member of Long Hollow Baptist Church, and adored the ladies in her widow's group. She spent many days with these ladies at social events playing cards, going to symphonies, and having potlucks. Memaw also loved to play her weekly bingo at Chick-fil-A , and would never miss her hair appointments. In her quiet time, Memaw loved being around her family, planting flowers, making the most amazing scrapbooks, and reading her Bible. She was very much loved by her children, grandchildren, extended family, and many friends. She was gracious, feisty, fun loving, and vivacious. Memaw was God's exact template of a Grandmother, Mother, and friend, and she will be forever in our hearts. A memorial service for Mrs. Linda Gupton (Memaw) will be at Long Hollow Baptist Church, and will be announced when congregating commences.
