Lillian F. Thomas, 90, of Hendersonville passed away Thursday, August 1, 2019. Born in Los Angeles County, CA, October 18, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Wilmer A. Felker and Edith (Martin) Felker. Lillian was also preceded in death by her husband, Leslie B. Thomas and her sister, Virginia McIntosh. She graduated Trevecca University where she majored in music, and also received her teacher's certification. She taught in the Metro School System for over 30 years spending much of her time as a fifth-grade teacher. Music was an especially important aspect of her life however. In her early years, she and her late sister sang at many revivals. She also sang with her late husband, often accompanying him on piano or the accordion. She was a member of the Hendersonville First Baptist Church where she had been in the choir and played piano for the senior choir. She and her husband lived in Madison for some fifty years. Lillian had resided at Park Place in Hendersonville for the past seven years. She will be fondly remembered by those who knew her as a sweet and gentle lady. She is survived by her daughter, Laurel L. Thomas; her brother, Cecil Felker; and two nieces, Kelly Zachary and Nancy Felker. A chapel service will be held Wednesday at 1:00 PM at the Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Pegram.
