OVERTON Lee L. was born in 1921 in Mt. Hope, Ohio, the daughter of Lutheran minister Louis Dornseif and Selma Christianer. She attended the University of Alabama and finished her degree with honors from Tennessee State University in 1975. Lee married WSM radio and television broadcaster Dave Overton. She is survived by children Davis Carter Overton, III, John Jeffrey Overton, and Luanne Overton-Blair, son-in-law Lynn Blair, grandsons John Elliston Farrell and David Overton Farrell and David's wife Carol Huang, and sister, Jeannie Watson. After earning her degree in social welfare from TSU Mrs. Overton became a probation counselor for the Metro's Criminal Court Division and retired in 1985. A resident of Nashville since 1949, Mrs. Overton was active in community affairs. She served as PTA President for Burton Elementary School and Hillsboro High School and a member of the Oak Hill Planning Commission in 1974. She was a board member and Public Relations and Publicity Chairman for the Radnor Lake Preservation Fund, the community lead effort which preserved Radnor Lake as a park for Nashville. She was also active in Girl Scouts, serving as board member and chairman of the nominating and public relations committees of the Cumberland Valley Girl Scout Council and as a Girl Scout and Brownie Group Leader. Mrs. Overton was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and was a choir member and volunteer church secretary at Concordia Lutheran Church. She was kind and compassionate, and loved life. She will be missed by her loving family and by her many friends in our community. Funeral Services will be on Saturday At 2 pm at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. John D. Stirewalt officiating. Interment will follow in the Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. Memorial Contributions may be made to Friends of Radnor Lake P.O. Box 40324 Nashville, TYN 37204.
