Laura Pepper Moore, age 88, passed away Thursday, September 21, 2017, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She was born September 30, 1928, in Knoxville, Tennessee, and lived in Goodlettsville, Tennessee, from childhood until her death. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lida and Rutledge Osborne, her husband, Jimmy Moore, and her sister, Faye Lanham. She is survived by her daughter, Robin Moore, her son and daughter-in-law, Carey and Dana Moore, nieces Martha Townsend of Louisville, Colorado, and Beth Davis of Memphis, and nephew Mike (Debbie) Caldwell of Goodlettsville. Pepper worked at Fidelity Federal Savings and Loan for more than 30 years. After retiring, she worked at Sears for another 25 years. Pepper was a proud, lifelong member of First Baptist Church Nashville. She was on the Cradle Roll there and as an adult interpreted worship services and taught Sunday School for the deaf for more than 40 years, a skill she learned from her parents, who were deaf. Later, she became an active member of the Sojourners class. Above all, Pepper loved three things: her family, her home, and her church. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff of VUMC's Round Wing 7th floor Geriatrics Unit, as well as to Dr. Victor Legner, for all their kindness and compassion. Visitation with her family will be Tuesday, September 26, from 11:30 to 1:00 at First Baptist Church Nashville, 108 7th Ave South, and on Wednesday, September 27, from 10:00 to 11:30 at Cole and Garrett Funeral Home, 127 North Main St., Goodlettsville. A graveside service will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Goodlettsville. Her family requests that in lieu of flowers you donate generously to the Mid-South Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. P.S. Go hug your mother and tell her you love her.
