HERNDON, King Edward Age 87 of Nashville died September 27, 2005. Preceded in death by his first wife, Katherine Travis Herndon, Daughter, Delores Herndon Wells; brother, Larry Herndon; sister, Lorene Holman. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. Herndon was a retired captain for Metro Police Department, Special Operations. He was a member of West Nashville Masonic Lodge and was a Shriner. A member of Forest Hills Baptist Church and Good News Sunday School Class. Survived by wife, Marie Miller Herndon; daughter, Denise Herndon Powell; grandchildren, Michelle Wells Davidson, Edward Wells, Kim Powell Martin, Maria Wells Allen, Betsy Powell Mullins; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Frances Vester. Funeral services will be 1 pm Friday at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home with Bro. Bob Mowery and Dr. Jerry Winfield officiating. Burial to follow at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers, J.D. Jones., Jack Lankford, J.R. Vaughn, Steve Neeley, Mack McLemore, Thomas Nollner. Honorary pallbearers, Dr. Richard Garman and The Good News Sunday School Class. Memorial contributions may be made to Polycystic Kidney Foundation or Gideons International. Visitation will be 2-8 pm Thursday and on Friday 10 am until time of service.
