Kenneth Eugene Rumph, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on April 30, 2024. He was a man of remarkable character and unwavering dedication to his family, friends, and community.
 
Born on April 2, 1956, Kenneth led a fulfilling life marked by compassion and selflessness. He touched the lives of many through his kind and calm demeanor, always willing to help others in any way he could. Even on his last day, Kenneth's spirit of generosity shone bright.

Kenneth accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior at a young age, at Bethel Temple Church of God in Christ in Gary, IN, under the leadership of his father, Elder Theodis W. Rumph, Sr. 

Kenneth was a 1974 graduate of Horace Mann High School in Gary, IN. 

Kenneth's professional journey was defined by honor and service. He proudly served in the U.S. Army for 22 years, achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class (SFC). His time in the military included a role as an instructor and training Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) in Germany, where he imparted his knowledge and skills to fellow soldiers. He also served 3 years in Bagdad, Iraq as a Logistics Contractor. 
 
Outside of his military service, Kenneth pursued his academic interests and earned a Master's Degree in Business Administration and Technology from Webster University. He applied his learning not only in his career but also in his everyday life.
 
Among Kenneth's many passions were fishing, motorcycle riding, and engaging in friendly grilling competitions with loved ones. These hobbies brought him joy and allowed him to create cherished memories with family and friends.

Kenneth met the love of his life, Ms. Evarlean Nicks at Fort Sam Houston, Texas in January 1976, and were later married on December 24, 1977. 
 
Kenneth's proudest accomplishments included being a devoted "Paw Paw" to his grandchildren who held a special place in his heart. He also took immense pride in his daughter Kimberly, who brought him endless happiness.
 
Kenneth is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Mrs. Evarlean Rumph; daughter Kimberly Garrett; grandchildren Jurnee, Noah, and Logan Garrett; siblings Michael (Doris) Rumph and Emmanuel (Agnes) Rumph; sister-in-law Lucille Rumph; as well as a special aunt, Mary Scott;  as well as, brother in laws, Nathaniel Nicks and George Nicks; and sister in laws, Georgia Nicks and Earlean Nicks. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

 He is preceded in death by his parents Theodis Sr. and Subella Rumph; brothers Theodis Rumph Jr. and Briggs Rumph.
 
A visitation service will be held on May 10, 2024 at Metro Baptist Church in Goodlettsville, TN from 11:00 am-12:00pm followed by a Celebration of Life ceremony at the same location at 12:00pm. Burial will follow at 2:00pm at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. 

Kenneth Eugene Rumph will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his kindness, strength, and unwavering love for those around him. May he rest in peace knowing that his impact on others will endure for generations to come.
