Kenneth Ray Gammons

April 18, 1940 — October 1, 2024

Kenneth Ray Gammons, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and proud veteran passed away on October 1, 2024, at the age of 84. Born on April 18, 1940, Kenneth was known for his unwavering warmth and kindness, embodying the spirit of service throughout his life. He took great pride in his career as a traveling salesman for Bowling Supply Company, where he had a unique gift for making connections and building relationships wherever he went. Kenneth never met a stranger; he was a person who captivated everyone he encountered with his genuine smile and love of a good joke.

A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Kenneth's service to his country was a significant part of his identity. His dedication and commitment were evident not only during his military service but throughout his life, where he continued to serve as a mentor and friend to many.

Kenneth was passionate about his family, and his proudest accomplishments were undoubtedly his grandchildren, who he treasured dearly and affectionately referred to him as "PaPaw." Surrounded by love, he witnessed their growth and accomplishments with endless joy and pride.

Kenneth is survived by his daughters, Kimberly Gammons Minor (John) and Kathy Gammons Robinson (Cliff), and his cherished grandchildren, Paige Robinson, Tess Minor Jaynes (Austin), and Bret Robinson. He is also survived by his brother, Bobby Gammons, and sister, Mary Ann Chambers, along with a host of nieces and nephews who carry on his legacy of kindness and love of family.

Kenneth was predeceased by his loving wife of 48 years, Denise D. Gammons, whose memory remains a source of comfort to his family. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Henry Mitchell Gammons and Margie Russell Gammons, and his siblings, Dillard, Hillard, and Billy Gammons, as well as Katherine Meadows Lundy, Ruby Dickens, Plumie Thaxton, Cleona Tate, and Dorothy Jackson.

In his younger years, he parked cars for the Detroit Tigers to make extra money and never lost that work ethic. In addition to his love for family, Kenneth enjoyed playing golf, where he shared many happy moments with his wife. He was also an avid Tennessee Titans fan and a Vanderbilt Sports fan.

The family would like to say a heartfelt Thank You to the staff at Harmony of Mount Juliet and Gentiva Hospice for their loving care.
