Katherine was born on March 8, 1933, in Sumner County, TN, and peacefully passed away on May 29, 2024.
She was known for her creative spirit and was described as a crafty person who found joy in creating beautiful things. Katherine was also a member of First Baptist Church White House.
Katherine's proudest accomplishments revolved around her family. She was always proud of her loved ones and would often be heard bragging about them. Her grandchildren affectionately knew her as "Grandma", a title she cherished deeply.
She was a devoted individual who dedicated 30 years of her life working for the State of TN in Human Services.
She is survived by her loving children: Wayne (Brenda), Johnny (Debbie), Marilyn (Jerry) Blair; grandchildren, Stacy Escue, Kelley Nelson, Chris Martin, Matt Martin, Steve Blair and Kristy Thompson; as well as 8 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Katherine is now reunited with her beloved husband of 56 years, Noel Martin; grandchild Shayne Parker; sister Nancy Gann; and parents Owen Bates and Maggie Stafford Bates.
The visitation will be held on May 30, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home and Cremation Services in White House. A Celebration of Life service will take place the following day on May 31, 2024, starting at 12:00 PM at the same location, with an hour visitation prior to the service. Burial will take place at White House Memorial Gardens.
