Karl Nixon

December 11, 1938 — February 14, 2023

Karl J. Nixon passed away on February 14, 2023, at home surrounded by his family.  He was born on December 11, 1938, in Goodlettsville, Tennessee to Corbin and Elizabeth (Sims) Nixon.  He grew up in Goodlettsville, working on the family farm.  He attended Old Center Elementary School and Goodlettsville High School, (class of 1957), where he developed many lifelong friendships, including Patsy Wheeler, his wife of over 65 years (married June 1957).

He worked at Dupont, retiring in 1997, after a 32-year career. He served his country as a member of the Tennessee Army National Guard for 5 years. He was a long-term attendee at the Goodlettsville Nazarene Church (GOODNAZ).

He was member of Goodlettsville Masonic Lodge #271, having received his 50-year membership certificate.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.  He loved his family, his many friends, his home place and his animals.  Most days you could find Karl, working on his home place, playing a round of golf, meeting his coffee drinking friends for breakfast or walking in Moss Wright Park. He seemed to befriend everyone he met, and never forgot a face or a name.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patsy; daughter Gayle (Mark) Writesman of Goodlettsville, TN; grandson Cole Writesman; two brothers C.L. (Janet) Nixon, Jack (Brenda) Nixon; his Aunt Marian Riddle of VT as well as many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Karl was predeceased by his father Corbin, his mother Elizabeth, and his brother James.
