John Michael Wingard, age 49 of Millersville passed away surrounded by his loved ones on Friday, October 19, 2018 at Alive Hospice in Nashville.
He was born on April 11, 1969 in Jacksonville, Florida. After graduating Sandalwood High School in 1987, John started his journey traveling around the world giving humanitarian aid and community service to those in need through The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This kindness and compassion stayed with John his entire life. He was constantly finding people that needed a hand. Whether it was a warm place to stay, a simple meal, or even Christmas, John stepped in and made sure they had everything they needed. It was this that made John a truly special person to know.
John had a passion for IT, he helped many companies expand and grow their business over the years. He knew four foreign language's Samoan, Spanish, Tongan and Chinese and he had contacts all over the United States which made him a great business partner.
Even though John was industrious, he still knew how to have a good time. John was described as being the life of the party making sure everyone had a good time. From the time John and his sister, Lisa were little they were close. One of her favorite memories as a child was the time they dressing up in all camo sneaking around the house spying on their dad and in later years the different cook offs between siblings. AJ recounted the many night he and John hung out with friends listening to good music and watching the different shows. Memories like this is what will keep Johns memory alive in everyone who knew him and will forever be just a memory away.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Gary Lee and Nancy Darlene Gorman Wingard and John Ranieri.
He is survived by his Life Partner of 14 years Alvajohn "AJ" Wilson; children, Travis (Laura) Green, AT (Amy) Wilson, Jr., Steven Daniel Wilson and Jessica Reneá (Jon) Lawson; grandchildren, Blaine Wilson and Angelina Wilson; siblings, William J (Nicole) Pugliano, Vinette M (Kevin) Skurpski, Lisa D. (James Martin) Thompson and Angela (Tony) Desky; grandmother, Marie Yates; uncle, Bill Yates; nieces and nephews, Justina D. (Levi) Backman, Corey (Phuong Trinh) Skurpski, Shawn (Megan Gushlaw) Skurpski, Tailor Alderman, Matthew A. Thompson, Laci A Thompson, Skyler Miller and Tyler Miller; great niece and nephew, Tegan and Annalise Backman and a host of friends that will miss him dearly.
A Life Celebration will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2018 in the Chapel of Cole & Garrett Funeral Home at 1:00pm with Bro Charles Anderson officiating, burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with close friends and family serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 25th from 11am until the time of service.
