Joe Ssgt.

Joe McNelly, age 74 of Mitchellville, passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2008 at the V.A. Medical Center in Nashville. Mr. McNelly was currently a member of the National Unified Service Command where he held the rank of colonel. He retired from the U.S.A.F. with twenty years of service at the rank of SSgt. He also retired from Lock heed Aircraft where he was instrumental in the building of Air Force One for George W. Bush Sr. A native of Lawrenceville, Illinois he was born to the late France and Claudia Noe McNelly. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a Daughter, Frieta Renee. He is survived by wife Elizabeth McNelly of Mitchellville, Daughters, Connie Jo Smith Steve of Vincennes Indiana, Cecilia Flowers of Arlington Texas, Sons, G.A. Swindle Neysa of Portland, Michael Swindle Sr. Joyce of Nashville, 8 Grandchildren, 7 Great Grandchildren, Sisters, Reba Daffron, Mildred Hedge, and Jane Buchanan. One special granddaughter Miss Naomi. Funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at 3:00 P.M. from the chapel of Gallatin Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Pierce officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Sumner Memorial Gardens. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will begin on Monday, January 28, 2008 at 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and will resume on Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at 10 A.M. until service time at Gallatin Funeral Home and Memory Gardens at Crestview 1620 Hwy. 109 N.
