Jim R. Claiborne, 87, of Hendersonville and formerly a long time White House resident, passed away Sunday, March 28, 2021. Born December 14, 1933 in Allen County, KY, Jim was the son of the late Harvey Newton Claiborne and Zora Snider Claiborne. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Charlie, Leslie, Donnie, Earl, Duel, Ray and Harvey, Jr.; and a sister, Estelle. Jim grew up in the Scottsville, KY area where he graduated from Allen County High School. He was an avid basketball fan and carried his love of sports (especially University of Kentucky sports) throughout his life. He also loved listening to music and in particular, Bluegrass music. Jim had worked at the former Ford Glass Plant in Nashville for over 33 years. He was a Christian man who worshipped at White House 1st Baptist Church and later at Temple Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He had also served his country as a member of the US Army. Jim is survived by his wife of 64 years, Sue Holland Claiborne; his children, Robert Nelson Claiborne, Bryan Lee Claiborne (Tina), Deborah Lynn Darnell (Steve); his special niece, Lisa Kaye Martinez (Marty); grandchildren, Kimberly Michelle Shearin, Tiffany Dawn Turner, Kristina Robin Claiborne, Christopher Nelson Claiborne, Robert Kaden Claiborne, Jacob Taylor Moore, Denna Faye Martinez and Ryan Robert Martinez; 8 great-grandchildren; and his sole surviving brother, Clessie Claiborne. Visitation for Jim will be held at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home, White House, TN on Thursday, April 1st from 4 - 7 pm and Friday, April 2nd from 1 - 2 pm. A Life Celebration Service will be held at the funeral home Friday at 2 pm followed by burial at White House Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions may be made to the building fund at Temple Baptist Church or St. Jude Children's Hospital
