After a hard fought battle with cancer, Dr. Jennifer Vinson Brown, age 51, peacefully slipped into heavenly rest with her family by her side at her home on Sunday, January 6, 2019. She is preceded in death by her father, Donald Vinson. Survived by her devoted and wonderful husband of 29 years, Lyndon Brown; daughter, Hannah Brown; mother, Patty Vinson; sisters DeShawn (Steve) McDonald and Donna (Sherrel) Phelps; brother, Samuel (Carrie) Vinson. Jennifer was born in Rockfield, Kentucky and resided in the Shackle Island Community for over 30 years. Jennifer was a follower of Jesus Christ and a member at Long Hollow Baptist Church. Her relationship with Christ was evident in the way she loved her husband and daughter, served as a Sunday School teacher for countless years, and how she led in her role as Deputy Director of Sumner County Schools. Jennifer's accomplishments include obtaining an Architectural Engineering Degree from WKU, an Elementary Education degree from TSU, a Master of Education degree from Trevecca, and her Doctorate of Education from David Lipscomb. One of her numerous achievements while working at Sumner County Board of Education was being awarded Supervisor of the Year from Tennessee's Department of Education. Visitation will be held at Long Hollow Baptist Church on Tuesday, January 8, 2019, from 1:00pm - 8:00pm and Wednesday, January 9, 2019, from 11:00am until the service at 1:00pm at the church. Her nephews will serve as Active Pallbearers, and Honorary Pallbearers will be the Instruction Department and Lead Educators of Sumner County Schools. Interment will follow at Beech Cemetery in Hendersonville, Tennessee.
